I recently took my 1999 C-5 to have the windows tinted. When I got it back, I have no interior dome light when you open the door or hatch. The dash lights come on just fine, and the rear view mirror map lights work fine manually. There does not appear to be a fuse. The manual shows a relay. I have switched the relays, and still no dome light. Does anyone have any idea what might be the problem?
by dome light to you mean how the map lights turn on when you open the door? there must be a separate wire going into the mirror to turn on the lights when the doors are open, I would track down that wire and see why it isn't getting power when it should be.
when I got my C5 the passenger's map light didn't work (door or otherwise) the bulb was fine, I tested the socket with a meter and got nothing out of it. I took the mirror off so I could inspect the pinouts more closely, determine which wire inside the mirror was bad, and try to route a new one through. as soon as I did it magically started working again and has been fine ever since. I never did figure out for sure what was wrong with it to begin with.
even if there is a relay which turns on those lights, somewhere there is a fuse in the circuit. according to my manual it looks like its #29 "C/LALDL" in the instrument panel electrical center (passenger's footwell) make sure the fuse is good.
