Yesterday when I was getting on my car I noticed my oil pressure was only getting to 58 PSI @ 6k rpm, that seems low right? My oil temps were at about 206F
I'm running about the same on the oil pressure 36 psi at idle, 60 psi when gettin on it, with a 160 degree thermostat the car runs at about 170 to 180. 200 seems about right with the stock thermostat.
I am using Royal Purple 5w-30 with a WIX filter. Normal interstate driving my car is around 180* coolant temp (I have the 160 t-stat) and oil is about 180-185*. I was romping on my car and happend to look down and read the oil press and it seemed kinda low at 6k rpm but then again my oil temp was a bit higher than it normally is.
Is 28psi to low at full temp (212 oil temp) while at idle?
Don't believe so. That's what my '00 Coupe is running. Before changing oil and filter (for the 1st time since I've owned it), I had more like 35 lbs. @ idle, but I used a Mobile 1 oil filter, and I understand that using this filter does result in a modest decrease in oil pressure. I have since purchased a WIX / NAPA filter that I want to install to see if I experience an increase in oil pressure @ idle after it's installation.
