I bought a 2000 Vette with 26000 miles. Nice shape. Never had a manual vette, but sometimes it is hard to put into reverse. Maybe every 20th time I have a problem and after the 2nd time it goes in smoothly. Rides smooth and shift with ease. Is this normal????
I have an 02 Z06 with 38000 and its has been the same for me since i got it about a year ago. When you have trouble getting it in R, it is easier to go from 1st to R.
I have done the shifter linkage adjustments and the antivenmon mod and it has helped a lot with the shifting. Do a search on these and you will get a lot of good info.

my six speed was hard to shift, sometimes would pop out of gear and reverse was a booger. i changed the tranny fluid to Royal Purple Auto and within a few hundred miles it improved. Now it's even better. Whatever caused mine to act up was "cured" by adding the Royal Purple. I'm a beliver for sure. Good luck and let us know what happens.
I have a B&M ripper shifter and it doesnt like to go into reverse so whenever i park i put it in reverse then when i come out its not a problem. Considering im in reverse about 1% of the time its a problem that im willing to live with.
A friend has an 03 Z06 with around 12k on it and had trouble getting it into reverse. He took it to the dealer and they changed the reverse lock out solenoid under warranty. No problem since.
Try changing the fluild in your manual transmission. I had trouble with first and sixth gears when I got my '99. I pretty much figured the sychronizers were going out, but I went ahead and changed the fluid to GM sychromesh. Shifting was immediately improved for me, and it has continued to work well. It made such an improvment for me that I went back and removed a couple of the spacers that I use for the "anti-venom" mod.
One thing about reverse. Make sure that you are completely stopped before trying to shift to reverse...
