Default Fixed another problem with my C5

I have been putting off checking into a problem with my HVAC system for a while. the code says that the interior temp sensor has an open circuit on it. I looked up the diagnostic procedure in my service manual and decided today should finally be the day. step one is to unplug the sensor and test the positive wire against ground with a voltmeter and see if it ends up between 4 and 6 volts. so I start taking things apart and when I get to the sensor I find that some of the work has already been done for me, the thing is unplugged! since I had already gotten all that apart I tested the circuit as the manual says and its all good so I just plugged it back together and put some electrical tape around it to help hold it in place since I didn't get a gratifying click when it was fully inserted then took my car out for a test drive. now without setting the temp to 60 I still got A/C coming out of the vents! without that sensor the car just assumes that its 75 inside so it pretty much stops the automatic features from working at all. I only wish I hadn't waited until half of the summer was gone before looking into this, it should be much more comfortable inside now!

Someone probably had the knee panel off doing the column lock mod, or recall fix by GM, and forgot to plug it back in, or the connector tab got broken and the wire popped out on reassembly.

I just installed a Column Lock Bypass yesterday and discovered the little locking tab on the temp sensor connector is "tricky" to figure out. The connector does seem to fit pretty tight though, and IMO it probably doesn't need the locking tab as long as the wire doesn't get pulled on.

Anyway, after I installed the CLB unit, I fired up the car to make sure everything was good and later checked for trouble codes ... found one for the temp sensor which was unplugged when I did the fire up test.
