Default Using Colder thermostat with larger Radiator

I began testing the effect of using colder then stock water radiator thermostats.
I purchased a 178 stat from Eckers and installed it on my '99 Mallett 475 that has a race radiator of Be-Cool.

In 70 degree weather on the highway the water temps never got over 163 degrees in a 40 mile test run. I stayed in 5th gear and with a 3.73 rear end gear to keep more stress onto water temps with speeds up to ..
well you know, up there ;)
Interesting since the stat is 178 degrees.
Only sitting at a stop light would the temps get to 178 degrees.

I tracked down the vendor of the stat which is Vinci HiPerformance and talked to the engineer and find that these stats have a bypass bleeder circuit and due to the radiator design removing heat so well, the stat bypass is too large.

Vinci is making me a custom stat with a smaller bypass and I should get it in about a week to install and test.
If it works out well then that vendor will have to start making these for those also using a race type radiator.
