Default Need help!!! 1 5/8 Headers??

I just bought a set of used Headers. They are 1 5/8". Are they worth putting on my Z? I dont "race" I just want a little more power, and sound. Should I go ahead and install these or wait for some bigger headers? Is there a very big diffrence?
Thanks!!!
Matt

I would recommend you wait and go with 1 3/4". Either new or used, that's the way to go.

Put them on!!! A long time ago we ran a lot of 1.625 headers with good results. If you start doing some more mods, like cam, heads and stuff like the smaller tubes are going to hold you back some.

Too large of tubes robs horsepower and especially torque on all but large displacement stroker motors. Be careful in going overboard on header diameter.

Not in headers. I've seen 40 HP difference on a engine dyno.

1 3/4" isn't too big for his Z06. Many a Z out there running them.

I don't know what the stock size is however i'm just offering a warning on going too big unless running big displacement or stroker motors.

As a general proposition, I agree with you. That's why I would definitely not recommend 1 7/8" for him.
My 1 3/4" Kooks on a totally stock block/cam etc are performing well.

That was with the original Patriot heads, a 224 cam and 1-5/8" headers. Made 429/405 with some fuel tuning.
