I have a 2000 c5 and wanted to upgrade the stereo by putting an after market deck in it. I went to best buy and the guy told me, if I want to keep my 12 disc changer I couldn't put an after market deck in it. If anyone has any advice on what I need to do to upgrade my stereo, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, joe
As far as upgrading your h/u, I wouldn't suggest it until your ready for a full audio revamp. Reason being, your bose will sound like crap even with the special $85 adaptor you need. Best to replace everything at once.
I kept my stock bose system and h/u but installed a 1500watt amp with a 1200watt 12in kenwood sub for some kick. Sounds good and did it all for about $300. Check out your local swap meet and stereo shops.
to integrate into the factory Bose ("Blows") you will need an amp integration harness or do a amp "bypass". You will need to do this because there is a seperated amp from the factory head unit. If you go with an aftermarket head unit (which usually have a built in amp), you will most likely ruin your new head unit and the factory amp and it will sound like crap. I prefer to do a full am "bypass" and do an aftermarket 4 ch amp with all new speakers to get a kicking system. I am a authoried dealer for JL Audio and Alpine Electronics. I am currently in the process of building 2 custom stealth boxes for the side compartments, which will include a 8w3v3 in each location.
