I'm definitely interested in the GP especially at the lower price of $1600 but cannot commit quite yet... have to generate a little more income first... :nopity
Is this strictly a cash only price? Or is plastic okay?
(1) Anyone who already has these in an MN6. Can you please let us know the RPMs in 6th gear n the 65 to 75 mph range? I'm just curious as to the noise difference I'd encounter in ordinary highway driving.
(2) Maybe I'll have to make a poll for this one. If you had $1500-2000 to spend on either this or a CAM-only package (e.g., the present MTI deal), which would you go with?

Iam not sure, but I think that the gears would give you more SOTP than the cam due to the increased torque multiplication at the rear wheels. With the cam you start feeling the power at 4000+ rpm. However, at the track I think that the cam would give you better ET & MPH than the gears
Guys, I have the 3.73 rear change over and let me tell you it is a worthwhile mod. As for RPMs @ 70 MPH in 6th gear, my tach sez 1700 RPM. Notice a slightly different tone (a little deeper) from the Corsa Tourings. This is a good price!

I have a brand new set of 3.73's that have not been installed yet, and with being laid off from work last week, it doesn't look like I will be putting them in. Is anybody interested in this rear ? It is most likely up for sale.
Steve, I chose the rear as it really takes advantage of the LS1s torque (the bottom three gears are awesome(!) and the top three more useful). All this and no change in driveability etc. While I have thought about a cam, going in the engine doesn't appeal to me. Choices, that's what it is all about; good luck with whichever you choose.
Dan, the cost to install the rear at was $300. and took just about 4 hrs. for a quality job.

Joe -- thanks. Your reasoning is my inclination as well, but I'm trying to learn if there is a real acceleration change or if it's just more of a sensation because of the different gearing. I notice you have 13.07 time in your signature. Do you have a before and after relative to when the 3.73s were installed? Thanks again for all your input on this issue.
Why do you say that you need to have the PCM reprogrammed? While this is true for the auto cars, I know of no reason that this should be so for the M6 cars.
Steve, CARTEK did my rear and reprogramming of my PCM was not required (mine is a M6'er). My understanding from talking with them is that it is required for A4s. As for before and after time comparisons, I haven't been out to the track since the change, but plan to do so this coming Saturday at the Corvette Challenge. I can say this, on the street I can now break the Michelin Pilot Sports free at will in first and second, in fact, if I mash it hard in first, from a slight roll, I can induce wheel-hop. SOTP sez' it is pulling harder in all gears; expect the launch at the track may be adversely affected by all this low end get-up-and-go. Plan to try lower R's and tire pressure and feathering the clutch to overcome. Will let you the results this coming weekend. BTW, my driving skills are not all that great as I find it hard to beat up my ride for the sake of better times. Like the rest of us, I love my ride. Hope all this helps as the rear change does have its cost, but I think its worth it.
Joe
Your speedo is geared for 3.42 gears from the factory. If you change it over to 3.73 gears, your speedo will be off and there is a risk of the DIC throwing codes.
Joe -- thanks a ton. This is by far the most detail I've seen someone post on the effect of the gears alone, and it is very encouraging. My tires from a roll won't break loose with the stock gears, and as mature as it might sound, the prospect of having the ability to tear 'em loose is quite inviting. :jester
Good luck this weekend, and even if your #s don't improve because you don't want to thrash your car, please do let us know any further impressions. I have no plans to ever 1/4 mile track my car, but if my 0-60 or even roll to 60 or 70 acceleration is noticeably improved, then I'm all over this mod.
