I have been hunting for black rotors to go behind the black C6 wheels I just bought. I've found a company that makes "cad" plated ones...wtf is that, (cadmium I think) and will it wear off with time or is it something that will stay pretty black?
TIA
The (cad or anything else) plating will be off the contact surface pretty quick and you will be looking at base metal. I think you might have to settle for the hats being color-keyed.
any coating on any brand rotor will wear down where the pads travel and expose base metal. The pad action "polishes" this area every time you use the brakes, so it's not a constant eyesore and it stays bright. The hats are the area that you are used to seeing painted or colored.
Thats kinda what I thought, but I was hoping I was wrong. I would really love to get the blacked out look with an open wheel design I just don't think it can happen. I will have to settle for buying a big ol set of shiny new brakes then! Thanks guys.
