Spec Stage 5 Installed - Slipping after 500 miles?
Had a spec stage 5 with billet flywheel installed, with a new Zo6 slave. After 500 or so easy miles it slips in 3-4 under hard load, and 5-6 over 2,000 RPMs. after 200 miles the fluid was black as the midnight sky.. used the ranger method to change the fluid 10 or so times since then..still slipping..Clutch used to release completely a few inches from the floor. Now it releases only when the clutch pedal is fully released?.. Maybe doesn't fully release? Im stuck..
Mechanic says swap the master cylinder to see if that fixes it? I don't want to throw parts at it..i want to know exactly what the problem is..y'all got any ideas?

I'm surprised a new master wasn't part of the installation. Normal to swap out all the clutch and hydraulic elements, when taking the plunge on a new clutch.
And every clutch install would normally include starting with totally new clutch fluid. In a high-end clutch that would be a super DOT4.
With that said, if the clutch (1) properly sized for the power you're putting to it and (2) is slipping in a valid test, then you've got an installation issue to resolve with the folks that did the work for you.
Getting the fluid and master straightened out are necessary too and should resolve the point of engagement problem, but that won't resolve slippage.

do you have an adjustable master cylinder? If so and you have too much preload on the master it will not allow the slave to fully release.
If there is no adjustable clutch master cylinder then there is still one thing you can check/try which "MIGHT" work. On the top of the clutch pedal bracket is a plastic pin switch. The pin switch is threaded into the pedal cluster and the engaugement point can be adjusted forward or backward depending on where you want it to make contact.
There is a chance yours "MIGHT" be adjusted too far forward which would not allow the clutch pedal to come all the way back causing the hydraulics to not fully disengauge. All you have to do is unscrew (turn to the left) that switch until you don't see threads anymore and the pedal is allowed to rest like normal.
New master installed and system bled..still slips.. still releases very high after making all the adjustments available.. what could have gone wrong with the installation that i can point out to the shop? The techs at spec state this is a very short wearing clutch, and it could very well be at the end of its service life? Damn it!

unless you're driving a top fuel car no clutch should last only a few hundred miles. Did you check what I mentioned above?
The LUK pressure plates are self adjusting, don't know about spec. With my first LUK Stage II it slipped like a ****. Turns out you had to adjust the self-adjuster to full clamp.
Had that done and all was fixed.... the clutch wasn't clamping at full force.
Yes sir that was checked.. yielding no improvement.. thank you for the suggestion though.. I thought that was a bogus statement to ,but in their shoes, a clutch releasing at the top of the pedal seems like a worn out disk, and a good opportunity for another sale

Will call the tech line and ask about any adjustments..i dont have a monster amount of power here.. dyno with bolt-ons @ 350RWHP 345 TQ havent hit it with the 150 shot.. and i dont wanna buy H/C setup till clutch is sorted.. sucks to be me

There is no way a new clutch is worn out with 500 easy miles. I just changed my clutch, slave and master. With the new slave and master you can push the clutch in with your finger. I added the remote bleeder line and used a vaccume to bleed it.

Wild huh..thats what the shops/Spec Techline opinion is.. I did the math earlier.. since i got it out of the shop from the clutch install about a 60 days ago it was at the muffler shop for a total of 3 days, the detail shop for 7, got the NO2 system tweaked and rewired twice.. once was a day at the shop, and second was 3 days .. went out of town for 7. i noticed the slip the day i took it for the second N02 rewire as it was a 40 mile drive, and my first opportunity to shift above 4th ..that would have been the first time I had a working N02 setup so i was really looking forward to the drive home...
im boggled at this point but not gonna mess with it anymore.. it cant be diagnosed anymore without coming out.. and once it does, im gonna replace the troublesome unit with some i know will work..the car is wearing new hydraulics, so i hope the car gods will smile on me when i offer them a new clutch
I was a little to lazy to read through all the posts. But I thought the break in period of a clutch was 500 miles? So how often did you get on it before than?
I havent had a spec5 yet ,haha, but I can tell you proper break in is key. If you glaze the clutch during the breakin period it will never clamp properly and wear out prematurely.
