A/C control data wont show up all the time!

A/C control data wont show up all the time!
I've put up with not being able to see what the temp is or where the fan speed is at for over two years! I need some more help. I have an 01 zo6 and the a/c controls dim out so low you cant see them. I tried the tapping on the cover with my number one finger and some times it comes back on, just long enough for me to see what it is. This doesn't all ways work. Could some point me to a post where I can find some answers for the POS.
