I am having trouble removing the rear brake rotors. I have removed the lug nuts, tire, brake caliper, and large nut in the center of the rotor, but the rotor will not come off. Any ideas on what I need to do?
Re: Help!! Need help removing brake rotors (probable-cause)
Do NOT Remove the large Nut in the center... is has nothing to do with the Rotor.. Have you removed the caliper bracket?? two bolts... 150 ft lbs of torque.. there is a center hub locator , about 2 in. in diameter.. it is used to center the rotor... it is a metal to metal connection.. a few drops of WD-40 or some liquid wrench.. make sure the E brake is disengaged.,.. and a few raps with a brass hammer and they should slip right off... this metal to metal contact at the hub is usually the culprit..

Re: Help!! Need help removing brake rotors (probable-cause)
Thanks for the responses. I have removed everything that I can see holding the rotor in place including the caliper bracket. I guess it is rusted in place. I hit it several times with my hammer, but it won't move. I think I will soke it with WD40 and buy a large rummer hammer tomorrow. I have removed the large bolt in the center which I can now see may not hold the rotor in place. I think that is alright as I need to get the rotor off and pull the rear hub which I believe may be bad.
Re: Help!! Need help removing brake rotors (probable-cause)
As someone said, whack 'em with a brass hammmer after soaking w/ WD40 or something similar. Whack 'em from front, rear, both sides, top & bottom. Eventually it will move.

I have successfully removed the rotors. Thanks everyone for the help. I soaked the rotors with liquid wrench and wacked at them with the rubber hammer.
