Emergency brake cable! GOOD LORD!
Well, things just keep gettin worse with this damn car! Went to adjust my e-brake cable last night and found out that the main cable going from the parking brake handle to the tunnel apparently is broken....no biggie right...just order another one. Called GM today and they said the only way to get the cable is with the parking brake assembly....and that's $260!!!!

Thanks for the email addy but I think I'm gonna try to find an assembly from a junkyard. I called some local parts houses (Autozone, Advance, etc) and they say they have them, but I'm betting its the ones from the bracket to the housings and not from the shifter to the bracket.
If you want used...try Gene at GENE'S KAR SHOP. He recently posted that he's going to be closed for a few days, so be patient.http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1779293
He's a site supporting vendor, find him on the main menu page in the column to the left towards the bottom.

Looks like you got quite a few things to fix up in the tunnel area now.

I FINALLY caught a break with this damn car!! I took everything apart and found the cable sitting on the tunnel unhooked. I greased everything up (the little latch part wasn't working) and adjusted it and now the ebrake works fine Thanks for the replys
GLAD you got it fixed - for anyone else w/ similar problems following this thread, I HAVE the cable (about 2.5 feet long) that runs from the e-brake handle to the other cables.

Hey NONO5.0,my parking brake stopped working yesterday. It doesn't click when I pull it.Would that be because of a broken cable? If so, I might be interested in that cable.

Sorry to say they are two different problems. The rachet part of brake handle is probably bad.

If it isn't clicking, it could be the same problem that I had. I think the previous owner just disconnected the cable because he didn't know how to fix the real problem.
I think that's what you'll need to fix yours. Once you take yours apart (which is really easy to do and I do suggest taking out the passenger seat which is also real easy) you'll see how it all works. There's a lever that moves based on a spring clip. My spring clip was worn out and there was no grease on/around the lever. I held the spring clip over to put more tension on it and greased up the area where the lever travels and it works fine now. Like I said, it may not make any sense reading it, but once you take it apart you'll see what I mean. Good luck!

I tried what you said and it didn't work.I'm not sure if I did it right or not.The piece that engages the teeth just flops around.Someone in a post above said that the rachet part of the handle is bad.How would I go about fixing that.

Go find one on ebay or one of the cars being parted out. Brand new they are around $200.
