my last thread stalled after I asked a couple of questions so here's another one!
my reverse lights don't work, but the approach lights do, looks like I have a bad reverse switch. its popping the fuse which is consistent with people's observations that the switch tends to short when it fails.
how do I replace this switch? I have a service manual but I can't find it in there anywhere. the procedure the manual calls for is not listed in the index for some reason. can someone tell me where it is? or even post up a procedure here for doing it? does that switch hook up to something inside the tranny or does it pretty much just get plugged into position and work? any info would be appreciated!

Order a new one from Gene at GMpartshouse.com
Pretty simple job. Jack up car, switch is in the transmission on the passenger side.
Remove the old one and put a little thread sealer on the new one and you're done.
sounds simple enough. so there's no linkage or anything like that which it needs to connect to inside? just unscrew the old one and screw the new one back in? how does it work then? is it like a button on the inside which something pushes against only when in reverse? I don't understand why I can't find it in my manual. the step to replace it in the backup lights diags section says refer to back up lamp switch replacement. in the index there is one for the A4 (Park/Neutral position switch replacement), but I can't find anything about it for the 6 speed which I have...hmm I forgot to mention that in the original post, my C5 is a 6 speed. does that make any difference?

No linkage, Just pull the wire connector off, unscrew the old and in with the new, it's really that simple. It's on the passenger side.
I guess this late at night my finger's produced a less than clear post haha.
thanks for the info! sounds like something I should have no trouble doing. I got a price from GMpartshouse. awesome pricing as always! but a local dealer has one on the shelf and even though the price is almost double, its still only $20, I think I'm just going to pick that one up and get it done this weekend.
