Default How do you remove Windshield Cowl piece?

Guys I purchased a new windshield cowl (black plastic area around the windshield wipers). I know I need to remove the windshield wipers, but unsure how to do that.

I ordered a new one and it should be here in a couple of days!

Thanks for the help!

It really isn't that hard. To remove the wipers, you will need to remove the black plastic "cap" on the arm over the rotating assembly (small flat black plastic piece just pops off with a small screw driver). There is a nut that attaches to the rotating assembly and after you remove that nut, the wiper arm will just pull straight up and off the assembly.

If I remember correctly, all the other attachments are the black plastic "push pin" type fasteners. Should be about six or 8 of those (including a few towards the windshield edges by the door assembly). When you get your new one you will see the small openings for each hole.

The washer hose for each wiper just snaps into their locations as well.

Doesn't take long to install or remove. I took mine off and had it painted to match the body color. Gives it a nice appearance change.

Pop the caps off the wiper arms to expose the mounting nuts. After arm removal, the rest of retainers holding the plenum are pretty obvious to see. Don't forget to pull the little washer hose on the driver's side closest to the fender too.
It's all pretty easy actually, but it's been a couple years since I had mine off.
Tip: Before you remove the arms, turn the key on and let the wipers sweep. Turn the key off so they stay in a mid-sweep position. Without touching the arms/blades, place a piece of masking tape on the windshield glass alongside the blades to mark their location when re-installing. Be advised too, that some guys have some trouble removing the arms due to some corrosion, so it wouldn't hurt to be prepared for that.

Anytime, glad to help.

Actually, I was interrupted while composing my reply to you and didn't realize BlueDream had responded already, so when I clicked on "submit reply" and saw his good post I felt like I was being a bit redundant.
Nice job BlueDream!
