Default Problem with CLB Install

I'm following the directions that came with the kit from Corvette's of Houston. It says to pop out the cover for the fog light and trunk release and disconnect, then take out the screw. This screw will not come out... it just sits there and spins. Has anyone else had this problem? I can't seem to find anyway to get it out. My next step is to drill it out but wanted to check here first and see if anyone has any other advise. Thanks

This is typically just a trim screw backed by one of those
clip-on "nuts". Did you try a magnetic screwdriver? With the
electrical connections undone, you should be able to slip your
fingers behind there and see what the deal is...

If you can get something (small screw driver, etc) behind the head and pry out slightly on the head of the screw while you or someone else loosens it, that will sometimes make it unscrew.

Thanks for the advice... I actually tried all these methods and they didn't work. But I'll try to use the needle nose again and see if I can be more careful at holding on to it. When I would start to turn the screw the pliers would pop off. And if that don't work I'll try to pry it with a flat head screw driver... I think I was being to careful with it before I posted here for other advice.

I was able to get the two bottom screws out and pull the bottom away and get behind there with a screw driver to push from behind but it wouldn't budge. I thought this was going to be a quick and easy install

I think those torx fasteners screw into a metal "tang", so they won't just push out. Maybe you can push on it from behind while someone turns it ... that might work.

The plastic behind it could be broken or the "J-clip" was installed incorrectly and is not seated against the plastic, but behind it.
