My Brand new LS6 crate motor is throwing a Cam Sensor code at start up. It will not throw it when driving, it only throws the code only after usually the second start up. Sometimes it will throw a knock sensor code in the process. I checked the connection at the sensor which has a brand new oem harness by the way and the connection is good. I also checked the connections at the PCM and the pins are in the correct locations. Any ideas on what I can do to fix this problem? This is the only thing from keeping me finishing my swap. Thanks everone for any suggestions you can give.
OE cam or aftermarket grind ?All grounds intact ? Throwing a Po342?343? or 341 ?
oe cam LS6, all grounds have been triple checked... I will have to double check with my neighbors scanner, mine only tells me the CAM sensor. I will check on Monday when I get back to work. The car is at my shop.
I'm having the same problem with my '02 LS6! I've been told the sensor almost never goes bad and that the problem could be the cam bolt has loosened and the cam has moved a bit!
Since the engine is brand new, Change the cam sensor, cheap enough and easy to do if it doesn't stop then check the cam gear bolts like RED ZEE06 says, (someone may have forgotten lock tight the bolts) the cam may have additional movement and you don't want those bolts shearing off!
If you check the bolts, Change the cam while you're at it!
