Default Surge Question

I have an '02 coupe, LS1, 6spd. At light throttle, it seems to have what seems like a lean surge condition. It wants to 'buck' some at very slight deceleration. It's not bad, ... worst before warmed up ... but somewhat annoying. Is this common in C5's? Any simple way to fix? Would appreciate hearing from others that have noticed this same issue.

Default Had a similar Problem

When I first got my 2001 I put a new intake on it and it started to surge and buck some on decel. Had trouble re-establishing a nice smooth idle after a decel. Come to find out the previous owner had descreened the MAF and when I put the intake on it was probably getting too much non-laminar flow across the MAF and causing the problem. I could put the old stock intake back on and it would be fine. I switched back to a screened MAF and all has been fine since.

Double check ALL your air intake duct work; clamps, hoses, etc. Make sure there's NO gaps/openings anywhere and everything is hooked up securely.

I've only had it since early spring and it only has ~26k miles so haven't thought of plugs or tune up yet. I'll have to check the intake plumbing. Thanks to all for the advice.

This kind of makes me wonder.....I took the screen out of my MAF when I put an intake on it, along with the other mods, and have not haad a problem....is that because I had it tuned?

It could be that you might need to do an idle relearn on it.....
