Default HELP!!! Adding a factory 12 disc changer

I am in need of some help! I have a 98 coupe with a factory cd deck,i want to put in a 12 disc changer but having problems finding the 3 prong connector that they say is under the passenger side footwell! Ive located the 4 prong and plugged that into the harness to the changer, but cant fing the 3 prong with the colors black/white,orange and dark green, can anyone help?Ive hooked the 3 wires from the cd changer harness directly to the back of the radio harness according to the colors, but the deck wont recognize the cd changer.Anyone else have this issue?I checked to see if my deck works with a friends cd changer and it worked fine.

I don't have personal experience with this upgrade, but believe you need to replace the harness that runs down the pass. side of the car

I would contact Gene at Karshop in FL

I did my wife's '02 a little while back. The 4-wire connector was the tough one to get at in my case. In prepping for my job, I thought I read that some earlier model C5s may not have the correct connectors. You may want to do a search and include the archive option as there's not much on this subject.

If I remember correctly when I installed a changer in my '99, I found the 3-prong connector away from the fuse box opening - pull the carpet back from the sill and follow the wiring harness toward the back. You might find the connector folded back under a clip or just lying there under the carpet. It was certainly not in the same location as the other connector.

Thanks for the resposes guys, but after doing some forum research,i found out that MOST 97-99 vettes DID NOT come with the 3 prong pigtail. There was a thread on here on a tech tip that gave me instructions on how to tap into the fuse panel box for the 3 wires(black/white,orange,and drk/green. After all said and done, guess what,IT WORKS!!!!!! I love this forum,as im sure im not the only one who can say this but, this forum saved me many times of losing my cool and have a "sicilian fit" due to frustration!

On my 98 it was behind the radio not the foot well. You may want to check there.

believe me i checked there and everywhere, about the only place i didnt check was in the gas cap! .Anyway,i found the post this gentleman had,and it worked
ok...

on an "un-cut" changer harness you have 2 connectors. on one connector you have the positive and negative audio inputs, left and right (4 wires total), that connector is called the "4 wire" connector, the other connector has power, ground and data (3 wires total) and it's called the "3 wire" connector.

all '97 to '99 C5's have the "4 wire" connector in the passenger footwell, it's the "3 wire" connector that is usually missing.

the easiest way to hook up the changer harness is to plug the harness into the existing "4 wire" plug in the passenger footwell and hardwire the power, ground and data wires behind the fuse panel in the footwell.

BUT, since someone hacked up your harness and decided to do it "the hard way" you will need to get the color codes for the wires in the harness, you may want to invest in getting a service manual for your car, it has the wiring diagrams in it.

maybe my description of the wires can help you in some way..
