Default 99 Key FOB problems....

Did I see somewhere that you can clean the "guts" of the fobs? I'm having some problems with both of my fobs (1 has hardly any use).
Do you clean the contact points with alcohol?
One fob I use all the time, the passive feature is not working from a distance. But if I change it from passive to non and back to passive, it will work 2 feet from the car but not at a distance????

TIA

With the passive switch on ... you need to be near, it's not meant to work from very far away.

Have you replaced the batteries, even without use they weaken.

Default Key FOB

What do you mean by"near"? My 95 would open the doors from 25-30 feet away. This one won't open at all unless you're about 12" away! It has to work from farther away than that...............

TIA

Default Passive is a PITA

I had to replace my fobs as they were SHOT. Got one with passive and turned it off. Another from a 00 which does not thave the passive switch. Hated the damn thing locking and unlocking every time I walked around the kitchen and the C5 waqs parked in the garage.
I tried cleaning them with a pencil eraser. Very SLIGHTLY abrasive but NOT MUCH. From my old days fixing IBM machines. BIGHANK
