I did a search and found info on diming climate control displays. My main display is fine but the backlights behind the buttons have all burned out. A friend told me to get em replaced with long life LEDs. Anybody done this? Did you do it yourself or get service? How much did it cost/where?
Sorry in advance if there are already threads on this, couldn't find em if there are....
Thanks but I was interested in relamping with LEDs not buying a whole new control unit. The unit and the display work fine, only the button's backlights are burned out.
I found exactly what I was looking for at LEDGauges but they want $140 bucks for what I'm guessing is less than $10 worth of LEDs? Scroll down to the Corvette section....
Yes, I have seen it done. They took out the little bulb holder and converted it to an led holder with the resister on the back side. and soldered it up. Looked a little time consuming, but would be cheap. For the resister values you can use the following site http://metku.net/index.html?sect=vie...calc/index_eng
For blue, you are looking at about 330 ohm - 470 ohms depending on the led.
