So being the complete moron that I am, I somehow completely goofed when trying to adjust the parking brake.
I was minding my own business adjusting the star adjuster thing to the right (outside away from the car) and thought I was good to go..put the rotor back on and it was completely stuck on. Released brake and still stuck.
Finally got the rotor off but the damn drum and spring came off. Also the upper and lower portions of the star piece (where the drum sits on either side) fell right out.
Long story short anyone have any idea how to reinstall the shoes and PROPERLY adjust the break. The manual says I have to remove the bearings but so help me god I clearly can't even adjust an ebrake so if that is the case I'm taking it to a shop.
Also the driver side brake doesn't appear to be working at all as the brake is not holding at all.
But even after getting mine back on, my ebrake shoes ar e way too tight....so for now, I am removing them.
Looking into having the park brake drum surfaced toi free up some space
PLEASE PM me if you get a sloution, I will do the same.
I had problems with my 98 and I looked up everytihing on this forum. Im pretty good with cars but these e brakes are ridiculous. I just took mine to a professional and for 60 dollars it was fixed. He removed the tire, the caliper and made a mechanical adjustment, I watched him do it he made it look easy!!!!!

Anyone know which was to adjust the "star" to tighten things? I want to ensure after taking everything apart I get it adjusted correctly--what is the best way to tell I've adjusted it correctly?
