I've read several post where other people have had this same problem. I have a 2002 convertable and my HUD still moves up and down and I can see the reflection. It no longer adjust up high enough to see it when sitting in the seat. At least with me I can relate this to an event. I hit a pot-hole in the road and it dropped down allittle. After the initial drop down it slowlly moved farther and farther down over a two week period. I must assume that something got knocked loose. I can still see it moving up and down it just not in the right field of view when driving.
Is there an easy fix for this (I guess that's a dumb question)? Does this require a dash removal?
Same thing here. I just fixed mine. The mirror is held in place by 2 plastic hinge pins. One of mine had wore off. I took the mirror out and put a 2# wood screw in the plastic. I drilled a starter hole in the center of the old pin with a 60# drill bit. There was still some slop around the screw so I put a small piece of wire insulation I trimmed off with a knife on the screw.
After I got it back in place I could see it but it had never been centered for me. I placed a small washer on the back hold down screw and iit s now perfect.
Yes you do have to pull the dash cover and it does take a while but it is not to difficult. Also after I had finished, all of the squeaks that were in the dash are now gone.
