Default oil consumption?

Any of you head cammed guys notice you eat some oil? I have gone 2900 miles since my head cam swap and i got a low oil light. Checked the dip stick when it was bone cold and was fairly low. but dosnt seem to smoke nor leak anywhere

Suggest you check your valve guide seals. I recall reading about a few members experiencing oil burning due to bad valve guide seals following a head change.

A quart in 3,000 miles ... that's not bad at all .... I'd do as Bugs Bunny says and "unlax" ..... that's not an oil burner. If you burn more than a quart in about 1,000 miles, then it is time to start "worrying" aboout it. Until then, go and enjoy that ride !!!

I had the same problem after a cam and head change.
My LS1 had no oil usage between oil changes until the H/C change.
Problem was solved with a catch can. Although it doesn't stop the usage but saves it from going into the intake.
I suggest you get a catch can ( if you haven't already) and the new replacement PCV.
Good luck
