Just had the 98 C5 in the dealership for what I thought was going to warrantied (air check valves); several services were done (injector cleaning, tranny flush, coolant flush, power steering flush, and A/C evaporator flush/clean); things seem fine, and car actually seems to SOTP run better. But, I'm smelling something at shutdown that is not oil or coolant or gas......smells sorta like when a motor is very new;
I also changed the oil after the visit and the car uses NO oil. Nothing is on the ground either. Any suggestions or ideas? It's slowly going away but it's been almost a week?
Larry,
I noticed the same thing when I had a similar service performed on my '98. I think (operative word, there) that it's the "injector flush", or whatever they use to clean the fuel system. That is evidently some pretty powerful stuff, kind of like STP gas treatment, on steroids, I guess. I noticed the same thing, and I even wondered if it would be detected/affect my O2 sensors, but nada. Smell eventually just went away.
Haven't had the service yet on my '00. But I don't think it's anything to be concerned about.
