OK I just got a LS6 intake from a friend. I have a G5X4 and bolt on's and stock heads. Its a 99 coupe. Would it be worth porting it. I heard theres a lot of gains if you port it, but me having stock heads Im not sure I would benefit from it. Let me know! Thanks!

I don't believe there is enough material in a stock LS6 intake to do much porting. The runners are pretty thin to begin with.

Try doing a search to see if there are any threads about porting a stock intake.

Tony Mamo ports (successfully) just about everything. However, with your STOCK 1999 heads, the LS6 intake is most likely not the restriction. Yes, eventually you'll need a better intake/tb/maf to support your cam....but the real restriction on that will be your heads. Most good tuners will recommend a set of ported 243's (cheaper option) or some AFR's or other similar aftermarket casting heads. Before you go messing with your intake, look into the big restrictions. JMO.

cool! Thanks ya'll. I figure that was my biggest restriction. Im getting the LS6 intake for free so I cant complain, but the future is bigger intake, TB, and Heads.

I did a search and found that a guy in California does some porting on the LS6 but I figure when I buy heads I'll an intake too.
