Automatic Transmission shifting issues
Hello all,
We are having some issues with our 98 c5 auto tranny. When I shift from park to drive it feels like it starts out in top gear and obviously takes forever to get going. It will not upshift or downshift into any other gear. I tried manually shifting it with the same result. It goes into reverse without problems. The car has 75k, maintained religiously, and has led a very easy pampered life. The only mods are a corsa catback and a blackwing intake. Any ideas as to what's going on?
Thanks,
Eric

Thank you, I'll look into that.
Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong here?

The problem began out of nowhere. I put the car in the garage that night with no apparent sysmptoms, the next morning it was acting up.
Do you think it's something simple or time for a rebuild? How many miles are people getting out of these autos?

Is there a check engine light or other error codes?
I had an Impala that suddenly started taking off in high gear and it turned out to be a pressure control solenoid in the transmission.

TCC solenoid, stuck valve..Any codes ? I "doubt" it is rebuild time. Usually the SES light will come on & the problem is "sensor" releated.

Check for some codes!
Hold Options button and press fuel 4 times (While holding Options Button) then it'll do a diagnostic check for codes!
Let it go through and then write them down!
It might be the Shift solenoid 1-2 that's loosing pressure!
They or all the solenoids are cheap and are very easy to replace - plug and play!
I did mine a few months ago had trouble with the TCC solenoid and decided to go ahead and replace them all!
The Helms manual gives good pics of how to remove them and install the others!
More than likely it's either the 1-2 solenoid or the Pressure switch! A code will help!
Thanks,Matt

75K is a little bit on the low side to need a rebuild if its been pampered but not suprising. Time to get it rebuilt would be my bet.
