it seems that the shifter cable broke or something
because i went into reverse drove a little out of my driveway and when i went to drive it just went straight down to drive very soft and still in reverse and it never was able to get into drive now i know i have to remove the center console and look to see but i'm just asking if anyone knows any tips because they have had this problem before thanks alot
This happened to my wife's 2000 A4 Coupe. I took it to GM and it was about $400 to replace the cable. Glad I took it in because they had to drop the exhaust too. The cable didn't break but it pulled out of one of the molded ends and I'll bet that's a common defect and yours did the same. Good luck. I was relieved it was just a cable.
