im thinking of doing a cam and head swap, what do you guys think? Is it worth the money and what will I gain? following are the numbers for the cam and heads plus others.

PRC Heads 2.5 LS6 2.02 intake and 1.57 exaust valves.
cam to be 224/224 112 LSA

Its worth it to do the cam but with a cam that small you wont see any real numbers from the heads .

Those heads wont come into play untill you get up into the 235 and up range .

With a 224/224 you might pick up 40-50 hp and maybe 75 hp total with the heads and a good tune .

Now if you do like a 238/242-610/615 on a 110-112 lsa AND the heads you will pick up 100-135 whp depending on the tune ,, then it would be worth paying the money for the heads imo.

If you really want to stay with a 224 cam , skip the heads and get a good set of long tube headers and a tune with the money you save on the heads . Stock heads will flow a 224 cam with out any draw backs easy .

Leave the car stock , spend $500 bucks on a nitrous kit and spray a 100-150 shot when and if you need it .

Thats what i did for a few years .

I have to drive my car everyday to work so i couldnt get to crazy with it and at that time , heads and cam installed was like 5k .

So i spent like 700 bucks for a nitrous kit and a few things to go with it and was busting off 11.5 second passes in a stock c5 with drag radials ,, hehe ,, turn off the kit and drive home .

I spent 3k and can drive in the 110 degree heat with the AC blasting to the track, race, then drive home.
Why bother with n20 when all your doing is damaging your engine. n20 is cheap and only there when you hit a little button and have to keep refilling it. your way better off to do the package you have now. its perfect.

nitrous is a great boost but, what does it do to the engine in the long run? Besides I like the sound that a cam adds.

Post your question in the Southwest section. I'm sure there are plenty of H/C guys there that can help you with what you can do with Nevada inspections.

I love it when ppl put their 2 cent in when they dont have a clue what they are talking about .

I sprayed my car on and off for over 50k miles and never hurt it .

I replaced the motor at 110k miles but the block , pistons , rod and crank are still usable .

Nitrous dosnt dammage motors , stupidity does .

Good luck passing emissions Torch and skip the short tubes , the money and hassle of the install is not worth 10 whp .
