A few days ago I filled my tank (1/2 full) with Costco gas (which I have used in the past). I drive about 20 miles and the "check engine" light comes on steady. At the same time my A/C display panel completely blacks out, interior fans do not respond.
I checked my DIC codes the only code with a "C" is
B0432HC.
Does resetting the DIC also reset the "check engine" indicator?
Is it a good idea to reset all DIC codes at this point and start over?
Otherwise the car runs perfectly.
Thank You for any info.
A very common problem in C5's. I have been living with a dim and now completely blank LCD display for the HVAC console since the day I bought my car. I always get the B0432 code and it is related to the dim/blank display. I have noticed that when the car lights up a warning it will shut off my A/C and until I hit RESET it does not turn it back on. DIY fix for the dim/blank LCD display ..
I am sure the next post will chime a more definite answer on the link between gas and "Check Engine Light" but my take at it is that Costco might have had bad gas, GM recommends the following distributors
Thank you.
I cleared my codes and the "check engine" light disappeared! Within a mile it popped back on!
I checked my codes:
B0432HC Rear Defogger Relay Circuit
P0134H
P1571H
returned.
The problem is that my A/C and heat are not functioning!
It looks like you are right about the B0432HC being the culprit, but now I am a little bit leary about sodering the relays in the A/C circuit board as suggested.
Guess there is never an "easy" answer.
The check engine lite may not be related to your HVAC issue. Given that it seems to be related to your gas stop, one thing to check is your gas cap -- make sure it's tight (at least 3 clicks) -- recommend removing and re-installing just to be sure. On OBD2 cars (all cars manufactured since '96), one of the check engine lite triggers is the gas cap. If that is the problem, it may take a few engine start sequences to clear the error.

What have you got to lose? It doesn't work now. If you let the smoke out by heating it too much you will still have a unit that doesn't work.

Good point, Bill.
Thanks for all the info guys. I appreciate it! I still get the "check engine" light popping back on after clearing it and driving a couple miles, I normally run Techron thru it, but will run another bottle thru. Also, I may pick up a new gas cap.
