Default The weakest link?

Now that I've decided to go with heads, cam, intake manifold, headers and lay down around 425 rwhp, I'm wondering what is going to break?

I would like to run it at the track a hand full of times during the summer. But, I do NOT want to drive an hour to the track and then have to get a flat bed ride home! So, I'm wondering what you need to do to be able to run 450 rwhp with drag radials at a track w/o having to worry about something blowing up every time I launch it?

I've read that the left output shaft has a tendency to snap? If you upgrade the left should the right also be done or is it common to just do the left? Are there problems with the torque tube? What else give away in the drive line and in what order is it most likely to happen?

Also, I'm new and not all that familiar with the drive line setup on the C5's yet (haven't had anything torn apart yet), is there some good illustrations or resources on them?

So, what's needed to run 450rwhp with drag radials at the track and hook hard enough to pull 1.7 60s or better?

thanks

Probably your first weakest link will be your clutch if you are running 450 rwhp. It will likely not last very long. Depending on your tires and how hard you can hook a left output shaft is a really good idea. I screwed up and didn't install one when the trans was apart. I don't know what I was thinking. It is also a very good idea to install a DTE trans brace. It will strengthen the case and reduce damage resulting from the flex there. Best prevention is no wheel hop. Sometimes it is hard to avoid on a hard first to second hit. good luck

Yeah I figured that would get smoked too...I just wasn't sure how long it would hold out since mine only has 13K miles on it. But looks like I should look into upgrading that too. What is a good clutch for 450rwhp w/o getting into something that is overkill and a pain to drive if not required for my level?

Textralia clutch, very good clutch and can handle much more power than you have, feels almost like stock. Get at least your lh halfshaft done, truthfully it's not that expensive to just do them both, once you put some sticky tires on there on a race prepped strip things can break regardless, it's just part of the game....good luck!

I love my Textralia OZ700. Sure wish I had done the shafts when I had the trans out. I still may go ahead and do it. I am well over 500 rwhp now on the bottle.

So...

1. Clutch
2. Left hand half shaft or output shaft?? Are these the same thing??
3. Rear diff. brace - 'DTE cage'

What else? At what point do you have to worry about the torque tube? what would be the next step or thing to worry about?
