Fuel Filter??
Went out for a short drive yesterday. Rain
Had changed the oil. Leaving a stop light under slight throttle it just quit. put the A4 auto in neutral rolled to a stop turned off ign then restarted car with no problem. Tranny shifted hard. got home shut her down then started her up again and took her out. tranny shifted fine and car ran great. have 98k on it and it has never done that before. Driving to memphis from Ohio, start new job on Monday. Sound like a fuel filter?

Not the fuel filter. A plugged filter will make the car hesitate and run poor but not cut right out. Also I've never seen a fuel filter cause a trans to shift hard.
Check for codes on your DIC. press and hold options then press fuel 4 times.
