I came on here to start a topic about the same thing. As soon as your turn the car on it goes to 260 and has the xxx. Did you do anthing different to your car? I just change the plugs and all of a sudden it came on. I hope someone can help us out. The temp sensor is on the left side of the head by the altenator. I replaced mine but still no luck. I also unpluged the battery and still no luck.

temp sensor
Had battery disconnected while I removed glove box. Everything back together ok. Temp guage working for 15 seconds then goes to full right on guage. xxx on DIC. Purchased new sensor and will replace when engine is cool.

Temp sensor location - front of the drivers side engine block just under the alternator and just 1/2" farther back than where the front of a set of long tube headers needs to go when you're installing them.
