I was wondering if the VINs are sequential and what the number was of the last C5 from 2004 would be? I'm buying my first Corvette and it was a late production and the factory warranty is still good. I also wonder what date they actually ran the last C5 off the line before the C6 came online? Thanks if you can help!
The last 6 digits of your VIN are the "plant sequence number", and are issued sequentially for that Model Year.
There was no "cutoff" where the plant switched from one year to the other. Starting in about July of 2004 about every 10th car coming down the line was a C6, and after a week or two they ramped it up so it was about 5 C6's and 5 C5's. Eventually (sometime in August) production shifted to the C6 only.
No idea where you could find the VIN of the last C5 built, though I seem to remember that the last one went to the Corvette Museum and was raffled off to raise money.
