Anti Venom Mod to MN6
I have a 2000 C5 convertible with the MN6 and a Hurst shifter. I was not happy with the notchiness and effort of the shifter so I tried the washer mod to the shift detent. The shifter is much smoother now, but it almost feels too loose. I read one thread that discussed potential wear to the shift forks and pads and wanted to know if anyone has had this on their transmission long term and if it caused any problems. Also the forum threads discuss installing an 1/8 thick washer to ensure the detent does not engage, which I did, but I noted upon removal and installation that the detent spring is under pressure for the entire length of the plug's threads and it was a pain to get it started back in, so I am wondering if the washer mod fully disengages the mechanism. It certainly does shift easier though. Appreciate any feedback.
