I've been looking at getting an enclosed car trailer, but I've hit a small problem. I was specifying a driver's side door for the trailer when I discovered the bottom of the C5 door will not clear the trailer door. In other words, I need to raise the car about 4 to 5 inches to get the car door to open through the trailer door.
Has anyone encountered this problem and, if so, how did you solve it?
I have an open trailer but still have trouble clearing the fender.
With the enclosed trailer you could just leave the window down and exit with the door closed.
Someone suggested I get a "Window Commander" that will raise the windows with the key fob.
You could build a ramp up to a 4x4 block
My borther has had a couple of enclosed trailers but they were for full tilt race cars. I think we just removed the door on the prostock car and his 28' TAD does have doors.
Remember that on a "road side" door vs. a "curb side" door you won't be able to access it well if you need to pull over on the highway.
It sounds like I'm going to have to make like the Dukes of Hazard and climb over the door. By the way, I was planning to also get the full size curb-side door in addition to the escape door on the left side.
I agree with the 2x4 way. I would get some nice 2x10 or 2x12's and place them where you want and make a nice slope with them (cut them with a table saw an can make a gradual climb.
The other thing you could do is drive the car up to the door (the cars door so you can get out then have a small winch and pull the car in the trailer and just use the parking brake through the window.
