Does C6 Tunnel plate fit C5 ?

I have been told the C6 tunnel plate is the same size as the C5. A friend gave me a C6 1/8" aluminum tunnel plate which I can get ceramic coated for a minimal price. Would there be a noticable differance over stock 1/16" steel. My concern is heat.

Yes they fit, but the C6 is not heavy enough to make a noticable difference as far as heat is concerned. A 1/4" or 3/8" ceramic coated plate is what you need.
