Not hiding it from your wife would get you more ***** i believe.. sorry, couldn't resist..

you could always go with a different set of gears in the rear..that would help..not sure about the Torque Management on your year but it kills it on my 00 A4..

Option 1. Supercharger
2. Boltons: Heads, cam, headers, etc.
3. Nitrous

The best bet for having totally stock-like characeristics is the rear-end. Autos without the performance differential are geared really tall. If you went with a lower rearend, like 3.73's, I'm sure your car would feel like a whole different animal down low...

What do you have? A4 would be either 2.73 or optional 3.15, 6 speed stock is 3.42, I believe. Many members claim a good increase in low end performance by changing A4 equipped to either a 3.42 or a 3.73. Those with 6 speeds usually change to 3.90 for a noticeable seat of the pants improvement, based on what I've seen here on this forum. Tune will net you maybe 20 to 25 hp, and probably not the kick in the pants that you are looking for. I say go with a gear change, your wife will never know the difference, so long as she doesn't have to write the check.

Gears has my vote. Get some 3:73's and a Yank SS3600 stall if your car is an A4.

If you've got an A4, it's probably a 2.73 rear. Another forum member here was kind enough to let me drive her 03 ( same year as mine) with 3.42's, a 3300 tc, headers, and corsa pace car exhaust. It was real nice, but I really wasn't that crazy about the way the 3300tc was. It wasn't that noticeable, but yet I did sense what it was doing. If you don't track the car much, I doubt you need something that high in a tc. Check out mike Mercury's post on tc. I'm trying to set up getting the 3.42's for my car very soon. If you go with gears, everyone I've talked to says you need a tune.

Gears. 3.42 at least for an A4, 4.10 for a MN6. That will give you a kick in the pants that she wont be able to notice.

A tune couldn't hurt either.
