Default Air Pump? On Headers

I am in need of the infinite wisdom of the corvette forum. I have TPIS Long Tubes, which I'm told by my brother (previous owner of my car), are notorious for cracking.

Well, they have done it. Ive seen it coming, but nothing major yet.

Last night, ironic because I was driving my brother around, we hear a very loud exhaust leak that sounds like its pulsating when a particular cylinder fires. Well, I get home and finally have the chance to look under the hood to inspect, and it seems that the weld has popped on the tubes that come off the air pump. I'm guessing its an air pump as thats what I was told by the exhaust guy I talked to today.

My question, as the guy suggests, is should I just to delete the air pump system and plug the holes on the headers? Would it affect any tuning on the motor or throw any codes? He says he needs to take the headers out completely to fix it, and I want to fix it right if they are coming out. And no, before someone says something, I'm not replacing the whole header.

Yes you can delete the air pump and cap off the outlets on the headers.
It will not affect the tune. you may get codes but you can delete them and after the PCM re-learns the codes should stop coming up...

I had mine plugged yesterday during a head/cam install. It really serves a small purpose on start up only and then is useless after that. Also if you remove the tubing, you can get to the headers and spark plugs really easy.
