Re: Day Running Lights??? (wallstAL)
I've had mine pulled since I picked her up last November. Only the DRLs' and the back-up lights on approch are effected. The back-up lights still work when you shift into reverse.
If you pull the fuse, don't you lose the turn signals?
I've left mine working for two reasons:
1. Slight increase in safety, makes me more visible to the minivan mom talking on her cellphone while smoking
2. Makes me more visible to the guys with instant-on radar guns/laser, which can actually be a good thing. I want them to see me from far away and perhaps get impatient enough to try for a reading when I'm still out of range. A good detector (and no front plate) or good eyeballs may give me the chance to slow down. But no guarantees.....
I've heard of people pulling out a relay, not sure which one, and placing a piece of non-conductive material between a set of its contacts, and putting it back in.

Some say it's a real PITA to replace the bulbs when they burn out...others says it's a piece of cake to replace...which is it???
(if they're on all the time...they will probably not last too long)
Ok...I went ahead and pulled #2 fuse (labeled "approach") in the manual. Nice to not have those DRLs attracting attention (not to mention no longer having to replace the bulbs more often). As mentioned above, I only lost the backup lights (and DRLs) for the "set" and "approach" modes when locking/unlocking with the FOB at night.
I have heard that pulling the fuse will set a code(s) in the BCM. Does anyone know which codes are actually set? Is this of concern? Will it eventually send a display message to the DIC? Thanks.
I remember someone a while back saying they didn't like them but they got an insurance discount and didn't want to get in trouble for it. Well, I have an easy solution for your problem. 1) Take out the #2 fuse 2) Hook it up to a battery that is strong enough to blow it 3) put the #2 fuse back in 4) if you ever get any questions from your insurance company just say "how was I supposed to know I can't see them when I'm in my car" :D :yesnod:
