I was thinking of starting a thread especially for DIY Mods and How To's Kind of like a Tech Section with pics etc....I know we all have some project we have done and have alot of pics....if this is something you would like just reply here and I will start a "sticky thread" later for all the links to your write ups and pics etc. So for now just let me know what you think. BTW I don't care if we have more than one post about a specific topic as we all know there are more than one way to do something so let me know what you think, round up up pics and links and we can get this going later today.
Seeing as how I made my own partition and vette tray, but failed to take pictures while I was fabricating and keep measurements on a sheet of paper. All measurements are now covered by carpet.
I have been linking a number of ones that I have found (here or elsewhere) and used to our Club's Tune 'N Torque page on our website.... http://www.cccorvette.org/tech.html
It might provide you a starting point for sources for your sticky
Don't we already have this??? It's called the Corvetteforum.com!!
Keep it simple.
yeah..well based on teh number of threads everyday asking for the same stuff I figured we could consolidate....I know alot of folks have put some time and effort into some great DIY threads with pics etc...be nice to have them altogether...kind of like the C6 Z06 FAQ sticky...go check it out and let me know what you think...
How will you get people to read this new forum before they post the "this has been already been asked/answered" posts?
The column lock sticky hasn't reduced the same topics in Tech...

no...I am looking more at a way to get everything in one spot as opposed to having to search....
so basically the thread would be layed out like so....
1st post would contain the table of contents as it were
ie: post 2 How to lower your car
post 3....How to change your coolant
post 12 Painting calipers
etc...etc....
I will just occasionally go in and edit the initial post to add topics to the table of contents as people add the DIYs...like I said we can have more than one post on how to do something I will just add the post number(s) next to the topic....you can choose which method you want to use
It sounds good in theory...now please take this in the spirit of my sarcastic and twisted sense of humor...can you manage to do this and eliminate the advertising so it's only about our cars?

Sure...go download IE7Pro and you can turn off the ads..
Or you can be a supporting member and you dont have to see them at all....next question
Ok what the hell I am gonna give it a shot...if no one participates I will pull it down....
I think it is an outstanding idea. Break down every task to its essential elements. Make the ultimate DIY section with pics (Pics a must) so people can search every job possible and see with pictures how to get it done.
Say I want to know how to change to HID bulbs it would show pics of EVERY step.
Say I want to know how to change heads and cam it would all be there with pics to follow.
Say I want to know X thing that happens with the C-5 and how to fix it.
I am about to make a major change to my C-5 and have many sites listed as to what is the best way to do it and it took months to get everything together to have all the info I need. Would be nice to have one source with authority behind it.
(I know I can search all over the internet and find this stuff with much time and questionable sources. Would be nice to have central place and comment by all here to keep truth close as possible.)
Maybe have it as a sticky thread with branches. Have people submit new pics and replace the old ones if someone finds a better way, etc.. Maybe start with a sticky with empty branches waiting to have content filled to get people started but also the jobs all sorted out. Have input from Forum Members on what branches need to be there to begin with.
Many, many things are somewhere on the web and much here on this forum but a comprehensive list of how to do things with significant visual guidance is missing. Can have thorough text to explain things.
Would be nice to have a way to enshrine all the knowledge out there into a user friendly central source. HERE. If people want to contribute and make the last post better, great it helps us all.
Goal: Make the C-5 completely understandable and fully gone over so everything known is presented clearly and with pics and text. Avoid anyone reinventing the wheel, making mistakes others have done. Have this site a place where GM techs look for info on how to do something.
