Default exhaust upgrade..help

Hi ..I'm thinking of upgrading my stock LS1 (00 MY coupe) to the Ti exhaust with an "X" pipe...
First question.. has any1 done this yet and how does it compare in sound to some of the aftermarket cat back systems..??
Secondly, which 'X' pipe will fit ( direct bolt in) without me having to cut any components of my existing or the TI pieces...

Thanx..

any x pipe you buy you will have to cut into the H pipe.Only ones you wil not have to cut is if you buy headers + the x pipe that goes with the headers.

As far as the exhaust,if you switch to the TI it will sounded nearly like stock, with only a slight more rumble. If you are comparing it to other systems on the market,it will e one of the quietest ones.

I would say forget the x-pipe until you do LT headers, then buy the one that matches the headers. That will save you some headaces. I hope the Ti is a pretty good choice, I'm switching to that this weekend. I had the Corsa Pace car and it sounded great on stock, with headers, and with LAS6 heads, but with the good size cam its a little too loud for daily driving...

What kind of exhaust note are you looking for? Thats the question you have to ask yourself. I would get something like corsa, b&b, borla, slp, ect. Better sound and performance IMO.

I have x-pipe and the Ti's on my 01 coupe. The stock H-pipe had to be cut out and the x-pipe welded in. At idle the sound isn't really different from stock. When you get on it you can tell that they aren't stock, but they aren't nearly as loud as some of the aftermarket pipes. The good thing about the Ti's is that they are quite a bit lighter than stock and most of the aftermarket systems as well.

I'm looking to get a louder sound than stock, but not as loud as some of the aftermarkets cat backs I heard...Not too concerned with performance at this point, until I decide to go with headers...
I've heard from several people that either the magnaflow or corsa touring are my best choice..any opinions???
thanks for all the responses so far...

Which have you heard?

The louder exhaust setups available on the market for the C5 for the most part don't have mufflers.

You need a muffler setup then. The B&B is a straight pipe with resonators and the slp is just a straight pipe(and is my opinion is a trashy sound).

Also what is your budget?

The TI's certainly won't add much sound.

Default Exhaust

I know how you feel, got the OK from the boss today to upgrade the exhaust, want a deeper sound. Father inlaw works for a parts place he can get me parts for cost I want to go with the magnaflow, is that my best choice for sound. I want it to suit the car and not go overboard.

Thanks
