Default 2000 LS1 coversion to LS6 or LS2??

First off, I took a quick second and searched the board for some specifics before I posted this question. I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

I have a 2000 6-spd coupe that I bought used with low miles back in 2001. Since then, I've racked up approx. 120k miles of "spirited" driving. The car is basically stock with the exception of a K&N and TPS headers. On startup, I get a puff of smoke, but when really grabbing gears and revving the motor, I give off a blue cloud between high-RPM shifts that rivals the old Spy Hunter video game.

The motor is still strong, but it needs rings and top end work, and as long as it needs some work, I'm entertaining the idea of swapping in an LS6 or LS2 for a little more snot. This conversion HAS to have been done by somebody.

1) What is involved in swapping in an LS6 in place of my tired LS1?

2) Can an LS2 be dropped in instead?

Thank you all for your assistance here.....

Either can be dropped in, however the amount of money you pay for a crate LS6 or an LS2 will buy you a nice forged stroker from one of our vendors that will make significantly more power. Going from a stock LS1 to a stock LS6 or LS2 is a serious waste of time and money.
