Default Headers & X-Pipe??

I'm looking to buy a set of headers and an x-pipe to go along with my Borla Stingers that came on the car when I bought it a few months ago. Would like to hear some recommendations for the two. We have no emission standards here in Arkansas, so my options should be plenty. Also, what is the advantage of going with an x-pipe over the stock h-pipe, which is on it now. I was looking at the Borla x-pipe, which I figured would compliment the Stingers well. Thanks for the help!

Get yourself some LG's, AR, or kooks headers with the complimentary x-pipe. Go no cats since you don't have emission testing (LUCKY!!!!)

If your interested I have a set (engine to cat back) of TPIS headers but in stainless, with a 3" inlet cat and 3 bolt flange going into an "X" pipe. I'd sell the whole thing for $995 + shipping.

I have Kooks. LG were the #1's for a long time.
I would check the American Racing headers-nicest fit and finish I have ever seen.

Most Headers are going to give you the same performance - I've seen it on a dyno-

I personally have K@@Ks Headers, Hi-flow cats and a X-Pipe to match from kooks!

The X-Pipe gives better flow and and can reduce resonance in certain applications!

Buy a total kit and you'll be set and ready to go! You will need it to be tuned after the install!

Thanks,Matt

I installed American Racing Headers to go with my Borla Stingers.

great performance across the power band, nice sound, great fit and finish and one of the easiest to install

If you buy headers, you must buy a matching xpipe. If you choose to buy a secondary aftermarket x-pipe such as the borla or corsa, that links up to the muffler side of your exhaust system and the headers can't link up to your stock h-pipe.If I were you,I would buy any one of the major name brand headers such as LG,American racing, dynatech just to name a few.I have seen dyno graphs and tests done here on the forums and unless the graph is skewed/misleading by either the user or the manufacturer,I would recommend the LG pros.Tests I have seen have shown that the Lg pros provide the highest torque from about 2000-4500 rpm, which is what you want.

BTW with any longtube header setup,no cats(even with cats for that matter) and your borla stingers,it is going to be REALLY loud along with a very high resonance level at highway cruise speed.I would highly recommend listening to clips, or better yet for that matter if you know a forum member near you with a similar setup(doesn't have to be stingers and longtubes) and listen to it before you invest.

Thanks for the responses! I'll look into all the setups mentioned. I noticed some places sell an off road x-pipe. Does that mean it comes with no cats or what? Ha, I probably won't run any cats since we don't have emission checks. But, it is still illegal to run no cats in Arkansas and most shops won't cut them off. This wouldn't be a real big deal for me, since I'm sure I could find a friend to do it, but I would really like to buy a setup with no cats if I could.

I keep hearing about the 'smell' with no cats. How bad is it?

Yes the off road x-pipe means that it comes without cats. I have narrow down my choice to get either the kooks LT or the LG's, have heard a lot of good things from these headers....

Thanks, that's what I thought! I haven't had the time to do much research yet, but the Kooks seem to be the best value.

I have the Kooks Lt's with offroad x-pipe, no cats with this x-pipe and dual tip Borla stingers. Car sounds and performs awsome! Spend the extra money and heat wrapp the x-pipe. This reduces interior console temp considerably, definitely worth the extra $175-$200.

Smell? I don't notice any abnormal smell. Maybe a little raw fuel smell but that's about it. The guy behind me would know a little more about the scent of my exhaust!

Anybody knows anything about Dynatech headers? Tbyrne sells them for a very good price. I only see people mention ARH, Kooks, LGs. Is Dynatech the black sheep of the headers family or what?

Thanks,

I've installed LG, Kooks, Dynatech, TPIS, American Racing dozens of times

the AR product would be my choice, followed by LG or Kooks
