Default Cleaning engine parts

I have a spare used set of LS1 heads here. Last time I had a spare set of heads I took them to the shop and had them acid bath and resurface them. They came out looking good as new.

However, this time the heads are in much better shape. So I would like to avoid paying $150 to have the shop do that. Does anybody know of a good solvent... or something I could use to clean these up on my own? Something I could pickup at the car parts store?

Also, I saw a really awesome tool once to do your own valve jobs. It attached to a drill. However, I have never been able to see anything like it since. Does anybody know where I could find a valve job tool?

Thanks.

Brake cleaner, permatex gasket remover, and aircraft stripper are your friend.

A valve job requires something a little more precise than a drill bit attachment.

Keith: I noticed you work in CO as a software engineer. I'm currently a software engineer in Minneapolis with my masters in computer engineering. I have been wanting to move to colorado for YEARS but had little luck finding a job out there. Know of anything?
