False Low Oil Indicator
1. I think I may have overfilled it by 1/2 quart or so. Is this really bad???
2. How do I clear this warning? It still comes on even though the oil level is fine. Do I need to get the sensor replaced???
Thanks
I checked the dipstick, still... it was hard to tell... the oil was at the right level, but it wasn't fully covering the hatched area... instead the coverage area was shaped like a 'V'. So I wound up putting a whole quart in (first a half then the rest). Despite following all the directions... it still kept showing low oil. WTF!! Anyways drove it home (I was at work) and parked it - still showing low oil. When I started ther car next morning... it was fine. Oil pressure seemed slightly higher than normal but I was due for an oil change in 2 days anyway.
Very interesting. You are right, I did park my car in a slight incline. Sounds like we went through the exact same thing. Glad to hear the sensor reset itself. I did hear of oil level sensors malfunctioning and that it is a easy fix.
Thanks again for your input!
