My 99 FRC has just developed a speaker problem in the right front speaker. It's a distorted rattelee type sound, kinda like when you use to get a crack in the old speakers. It's not in any of the other speakers but when i use fade and balance and isolate to another speaker i can still hear the noise in the right front speaker - any ideas? thanks in advance. P.S. I don't think it's the rattling emblem problem.
Ah Ha! To give credit where due, one of the forum members (can't remember who) has discovered that
the rear vertical edge of the door panel rubs the painted part of the door on the passenger's side . It
vibrates and sounds just like a blown speaker when you crank the volume up.
A few tiny pieces of thin weatherstripping stuffed betwen the panel edge and painted part cures the
pproblem. I had the same problem, and this cure works perfectly.

It could also be the famous Bose logo rattle. Stick a little piece of cardboard under the logo (between the logo and the speaker grill) and see what happens.
It could just be a bad speaker connection. If the speaker can't draw enough power as volume increase or during increased bass, it can cause that noise. I had a loose connection at the speaker, once it was fully connected, everything worked fine.
I am curious what you found. I have a similar problem with my passenger side speaker as well as my driver side rattling my window if it is not fully up or down.
Re: Speaker problem - passenger door (PHAT CHANCE)
I have a similar issue I am going to look into it this weekend I am hoping it is just a vibration rattle as it seems to happen with long bass notes, and not al the time so I dont think it is a blown speaker.
