Default Header Recommendations

I am considering headers and have been looking at many (there are sooo so many out there!!!). At the moment a local shop is telling me that the best bet per dollar are Doug's Headers. I remember Doug's from many years ago but don't really know anything about them (aside from the fact that they appear to be relatively less expensive than many). I am open to suggestion from you guys. What are the best options (for the moment ignoring high flow cats etc.)? Thanks

Many debates on C F regarding headers.

I use Dynatech. LG has two headers , one with a standard collector and a more expensive header with a merge collector.

AR is getting good reviews.

Stainless also make a nice header.

My suggestion, stay with a long tube and no more than 1.75" diameter for street. Type of material and finish will affect price.

Fully agree about Kooks. I just failed to mention them.

Correct me if i am wrong but aren't the Kooks more of a mid length header? I haven't paid much attention to them.

Any of the following you will be very happy with.

Dynatech Supermaxx
American Racing
LG
Kooks

Don't get caught up in which one makes the most power, they all make decent power..and each header will vary from car to car anyway. Do a search also, and you'll see lots of header wars.

I Had American racing put a set on my Z and ECS tuned it for me. The car runs and sounds stronger. I did a lot of research and looked at several header types in person. The American Racing headers are well made with the best materials. You can't go wrong. SKIP

After contemplating for months on header choice it was a toss up between American Racing and LG, I grabbed the LG's because I got a killer deal on them.

Consider that length of the primaries vary from brand to brand and will yield different results in where the power is made. Determine where you want the power and match the headers to what YOU want, not what others want.

Just thought I would add to the collection.

The Tony Mamo comments toward the end of the thread are particularly noteworthy.
