Default Clutch not engaging

Posted this in the FI forums, but I figured that I may get more visibility here:

Hey guys,

Car has been running great for two years until yesterday. I got a LuK Pro Gold clutch and new slave cylinder installed when I got my A&A Vortech kit and it hasn't slipped or anything.

Yesterday, I started to notice that rattling sound that you get when you put the car in neutral and do not press the clutch down, but it would happen when I was driving.

This morning I was driving to my friends to head out of town for the weekend and I started to notice it on the freeway again. After I got off on the exit I noticed that the clutch would not engage. I had to basically stall it and park it when I got there.

Any thought on what to check for when I get back in town? I checked the dot3 fluid and it was dark, but still plenty in the reservior.

Thanks
- Tony

If the clutch pedal is really soft, then you've probably blown a
seal in the master or slave clutch cylinders. It doesn't have to
be leaking for a seal to be blown.

Only way to know for sure it to pressure test the master.
If that looks good then it's the slave.

I would jack up car and check the clutch line. If your resevoir is full and you pump the pedal a few times do you feel any pressure at all ?

Typically when the slave cylinder goes there is leakage in the center are under the bell housing.

Maybe you goy lucky and just have a bad master. Elsewise you'll have to drop driveline to make repairs.

Thanks for the suggestions! I should be back at the house in two hours. Hopefully it isn't the slave.

Do you think the dealer would be a good choice for the repairs or should I go to a real performance shop? I am thinking that since it is prob 60 miles to a reputable shop I will have to rent one of those uhaul car trailers
