A question about acceleration

Generally speaking, why would a Vette accelerate quicker off the line at half-throttle, than it does at full throttle?
At half-throttle, the tires spin madly and chirp loudly shifting into second gear.
At full throttle, the tires chirp for only an instant on take of and there is a light chirp on the 1-2 shift.
At the track, there is nearly a half-second difference in quarter mile times if I launch the vette at half-throttle and go to full throttle AFTER the 1-2 shift, than if I simply floored it WOT at launch and hung on through the quarter.
I am assuming (hate that damned word
), that the tuner turned off the torque management when I had it tuned. What could be the possible cause of this phenomenon, in any of your opinions, and how do I correct it?And yes, before anyone asks.....of course I had the T/C off when making the runs.
I am running a small cam and 3200 stall convertor now....but this vette has done this ever since it was new, even before I had the perf mods done. Is this normal?

Well, that was certainly my first reaction.....but it was a really highly respected tuner that did the job......I'd think they'd know better.
Suppose the best thing is to get in touch with them and ask. I just figured I'd check here with you guys first.
Thanks

As a matter of fact, I tried that too. There wasn't a whole lot of difference in the ET's with or withOUT the T/C on at WOT. The best runs were launching at half-throttle and THEN mashing the throttle at about the 60' mark.
I remember the tuner telling me that the vette was tuned for the street and not for the dragstrip, whatever that actually means, since I mentioned I would probably only take it to the track once, but do engage in a little "spirited" street driving on occasion.
Guess I should've asked.

BTW, did Leon have a car show this year? I never heard anything about it.

However, he DID say that when drag-racing the vette, BOTH the traction control and the competitive driving modes should be disengaged, for maximum elapsed times.
I didn't know that. As a matter of fact, everyone I know has always recommended that the competitive driving mode be left on when involved in straight-line acceleration contests.
Guess, I just have to make another trip to the track again and see how it runs with all the gadgets turned off (and hope I don't do something really stupid and wreck the vette in the process).
